The
‘alien beacon’ referred to in the accompanying log entry is actually a VHF Omnirange
Receiver (VOR) beacon to aid airplanes at a nearby landing strip.
This
is a closer look at the beacon and a gate surrounding it. ISETV placed the
clues outside of the fence, although several teams reported later finding
them inside the fence.
This
was just one of many nasty warning signs that ISETV members encountered during
their scouting trips. Other interesting areas with heavy warning included a
remote religious compound, a highway cemetery, and the industrial waterway.
